Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.

Physician Associate

Qudsiah Anwar (f)

A physician associate is a crucial member of the healthcare team, working closely with doctors and surgeons to deliver comprehensive medical care. They are extensively trained to handle various responsibilities such as gathering patient medical histories, conducting physical examinations, diagnosing illnesses, providing care for individuals with chronic conditions, performing essential procedures, evaluating test results, creating management plans, and offering valuable health promotion and disease prevention advice to patients. While physician associates work under the supervision of a doctor, they are also capable of working autonomously with the appropriate support.

Clinical Pharmacist / Pharmacy Technician

Clinical Pharmacist – Javed Ali (m)

Pharmacy Technician – Liz Wilson (f)

Clinical Pharmacists are highly qualified experts in medicines and can help people in a range of ways. This includes carrying out structured medication reviews for patients with ongoing health problems and improving patient safety, outcomes and value through a person-centered approach.

A GP practice pharmacy technician is a registered healthcare professional who works within a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, based within a GP practice, and supports the delivery of safe, effective, and efficient systems for medicines optimization, repeat prescribing, reducing medicine waste, and maximizing patient outcomes.

Practice Management

Alex Jones (f)
Practice Manager

The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care

Reception Team

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.

GP Trainees

Eastlands Medical Practice is a training practice. As part of a GP Trainee’s training, they are required to sit in with their trainer GP during consultations with patients.

You will always be asked if you consent to this prior to your consultation. If you do not consent, the trainee GP will not sit in on your consultation.

As part of training, there may be occasions where consultations need to be recorded. Any recording of a consultation should be consented to by everyone in attendance.

Medical Students

Eastlands Medical Practice

We are a teaching practice and occasionally medical students may, as part of their training, be required to sit in with their trainer GP during consultations with patients.

You will always be asked if you consent to this prior to your consultation. If you do not consent, the medical student will not sit in on your consultation.

Health Visitors

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
